What is a Bushcraft party?
Jim’s Bushcraft Parties will provide you and your child with a truly memorable, action-packed and informative event where new skills will be learnt and enjoyed by all involved (See reviews).
A Bushcraft party can be up to 3 hours and based around a variety of different skills and activities depending on the interests of you or your little ones.
Bushcraft Skills
Shelter Building
Teams work together to build their own natural shelters using the environments natural resources or use modern tarps and ropes to build a den, which is hopefully waterproof!
Bows & Arrows
My favourite of all the activities, this involves a step-by-step process on how to make a mini bamboo bow from scratch which is surprisingly powerful. Firing arrows up to 30 feet! Once completed the bows can be personalised and taken home too!
Firecraft
Safely practice many of the ancient and modern methods of fire lighting using many different types of flint and steels.
Fire Construction
Ideal for cooking marshmallows over. Campfires will be built under the watchful eye of our professional instructors and myself with an implemented safety zone in place for the short duration of the fire.
Bannock Bread Making
Learn how to make and cook your very own bannock bread over the fire! Also, hot chocolate is a popular choice on cold days.
Whittling
A high rate of supervision is required for this activity due to use of a carving knife and peelers. Here the basics of wood peeling and carving are learned by carving and decorating a spoon, gloves are worn at all times.
Wild Foods
Discover the seasonal wild food that surrounds us and learn about the foods that our ancestors were familiar with! Although I don’t mind eating bugs for entertainment the children will never be asked or encouraged to do so.
Variety of Games
Face Painting, Tug-of-war, racing sacks, Camo stalking and plenty of running games to get warmed up.
